You can see the colour.
You can see the fit.
But you feel the fabric.

When we think about leggings, it's easy to focus on what we can immediately see — the silhouette, waistband, seams and colour.

But once you actually put them on, something else becomes far more important:

How do they feel against your body?

That's one of the reasons fabric matters so much to us at Nelo. A legging isn't simply a shape made from stretchy material. The fibers inside that material help influence how it stretches, how it feels and how it responds as you move.

THE MATERIAL

Two Fibers.
Two Different Jobs.

Nylon and Lycra work together because they bring different characteristics to the fabric.

Think of it less like choosing one “perfect” fiber and more like creating a balance.

NYLON

The
Foundation.

Nylon forms the main structure of the fabric.

It's a synthetic fiber made into extremely fine continuous filaments before those filaments are turned into textile yarn.

LYCRA

The
Movement.

Lycra — also called spandex or elastane — is the stretch component.

Its job is to help the fabric extend as the body moves and then return toward its original form afterward.

WHY COMBINE THEM?

Because Stretch
Isn't Enough.

A good legging doesn't just need to stretch.

It needs to stretch with you — and still feel like the garment you originally put on.

That's where combining fibers becomes important.

Nylon provides the primary textile structure, while Lycra adds elasticity. Together, they can create a fabric designed to feel comfortable against the body while adapting to movement.

A LITTLE DEEPER

Before Fabric,
There Is Fiber.

Nylon and Lycra don't begin as fabric.

Their polymers are processed into extremely fine filaments, which can eventually be combined into yarn and knitted into stretch fabric.

That's part of what makes performance textiles interesting: something that eventually feels simple against your skin begins with material engineering at a microscopic scale.

THE IMPORTANT PART

The Fiber Label
Isn't the Whole Story.

Seeing “nylon + Lycra” on a label doesn't automatically tell you exactly how a garment will feel.

Fabric construction matters too.

The yarn, knit structure, fabric weight, finishing, stretch, pattern, seams and overall garment construction can all contribute to the final experience.

That's why two garments can contain similar fiber categories and still feel noticeably different when you put them on.

A fabric composition tells you what's inside.
It doesn't tell you the entire story of how it feels.

FROM TEXTILE TO GARMENT

Then Someone Has
to Make It.

Once fabric arrives at a garment factory, another process begins.

Fabric is inspected, laid out and cut into individual garment components. Those pieces then pass through multiple sewing and finishing operations before they become the leggings you eventually wear.

Different seams can require different machines and operators — from joining the rise and inseam to constructing the waistband, finishing openings and attaching labels.
